SSANZ ANZAC 250

Recommended Posts

Yes

Very soon

But here's something to go on

On the back of its huge success last year with 28 yachts on the starting line, the Shorthanded Sailing Association of New Zealand (SSANZ) in conjunction with Chains Ropes and Anchors will be running another 2 handed event over Anzac weekend – the ANZAC250.

With fantastic prizes and historic trophies up for grabs - there are three courses 60nm, 180nm and 240nm catering for all yachts from serious racers to cruising.

All courses finish at Great Barrier Island for the prize giving and inaugural beach party with a rally back home to Auckland.

Completion of the 240nm course will act as a qualifier for yachts and crew wishing to enter the famous SSANZ 2 Handed Round North Island starting in February 2016.

Is this correct or just a typo?

8.1 The following flags will be flown for each division:

A Longhaul Division– Green Flag -- Greater than 0.720 PHRF

B Shorthaul Division -- White Flag – Less than .0820 PHRF

Will, yes its correct.

The idea here is that any boat above 0.720 PHRF (what we figured was about the lower end of the PHRF for RNI boats) can do the long haul division to qualify for the RNI race.

For the shorthaul we wanted to limit the PHRF so this was all smaller boats to try and keep the spread down slightly and results tighter. We didn't want any bigger boats finishing a day ahead of the smaller ones. Depending on entries we could look at adjusting the maximum PHRF band for the shorthaul but for now thats where we are at.

Hope it makes sense.

It hasn't been discussed really Will. Probably not a problem for small modifications like your transom, but I would assume that if you are changing something that would seriously alter the characteristics of the boat like a new keel or rig configuration then we would want you to do another qualifier. I will bring it up in the next committee meeting to get clarification for you.

Bump--16 Entries so far--For those (of us) not wanting to do the 250 or 180 mile races (which start on Thursday evening ) there is the cruising Division at 60 miles---leave Friday, still join the party at Barrier and take 2 days to get home

Voom is preparing for the shorthaul. Still seems like a bloody long haul in a little multi, so will be more weather dependent then most.  Will be a challenge for sure.

Hope Voom isn't too quick

I've got to start the small boats and cruising division on Friday morning then sail out to Nagles Cove to be ready to finish the fleet.

Lucky we have big diesel so should make it
