erice 732
when was working at rnzaf whenuapai instrument test + recal section circa 1984 we were struggling with old british avo bricks from the 50's that would sh*t themselves if dropped from a bench and were continually coming back from low level flying orions out of cal. a fluke agent came out to base with the very new fluke 73 threw it on the floor kicked it across the room picked it up, told us to test it against our voltage and current standards and if there was any difference we needed new standards later that week went into dick smith's and bought my own 32 years + 22 countries later, still doing sterling service (even survived the home-brew upgrade to fluke 77)
too_tall 15
IT - great minds obviously think alike erice - I am not knocking Fluke - they are about as good as they come. But you pay a huge premium and no meters like salty conditions, nor getting left out where they get crushed etc. The Uni T meters are not as solid - although not too bad either. Just a fraction of the cost.

too_tall 15
Deal Extreme sell the full range of UniT gear - or you can buy them from the TM reseller who buys them from DX initially. Or, you could go into Jaycar and pay about five times the DX price but you get full NZ warranty and CGA protection. I have not had one fail on me yet apart from having had one I dropped in the bilge of a yacht with a rather leaky gland. That killed it outright.
