Clipper 343
The one I am (slowly) building is a skylark 4' http://www.selway-fisher.com/Skylarkup13.htm My daughter is 18 months at the moment, I want to chuck her in this summer when she is about 2. If she can walk and run, she is old enough to row.... If you want to see how it looks in real life, I'm in pt chev.
Fish 0
The Clipper, I'm busy reading up on the details of the construction methods. That Skylark 4' sure does look like a good sized boat for the kids to learn to row in.
Fish 0
I've ordered the plans for the Skylark 4', and a book on building in the stitch and glue method. Now my only challenge is getting the shed tidy enough for a small and simple project.
Guest 000
Just about finished the little praam. Only need to sand, paint and varnish, build spars, and a rudder and a centreboard. And saw it in half. That job is scheduled for tomorrow once the epoxy base coat has hardened up a little. Any words of comfort before I take to it with a saw appreciated. tuffyluffy 76
Any words of comfort before I take to it with a saw appreciated. Measure twice, cut once. BTW - very tidy little dink. Any idea what it'll weigh?
Guest 000
According to the plans, about 34kg. I used gaboon ply and it feels a little lighter than that.
grant 40
very nice, its got to hurt to take a saw to that.... even if it is planned

Guest 000
It was a real estate sign that I found outside somebody's house...
Guest 000
No, not really. Our local agent gave me a few old signs. But not a good spacer. It was terribly grippy on the saw.

Fish 0
How many man-hours was that? I'm on the verge of making a 4' Skylark for my 3 year old daughter, unfortunately I'm still in the process of tidying my shed enough to lay down a single sheet of plywood
Clipper 343
Fish, aftwr not touching mine since December, this week has seen some progress on the 4' skylark. Glued the seams, removed ties, no glass yet. Gled seat on last night, but cold weather has slowed the epoxy a bit.
