Island Time 1,211
What's your boat Frickie?
Frickie 9
Wild Oats. Not quite purpose build for singlehanded!, but easier to manage on long legs once set up and going.
Changed 10
THIS SUMMER'S ULTIMATE SINGLE-HANDED SAILING CHALLENGE Last season the Richmond Yacht Club’s single handed series provided even more challenge, excitement and camaraderie and this season we’ve added to that challenge. This year’s new series sponsor, Vining’s Marine, a well-respected marine brokerage from the beautiful Waikawa Bay, has recently opened an office in Westhaven and are pleased to be the prime sponsor of this iconic series. This year’s series has been extended to ten races to add greater challenge for competitors and to give them the opportunity to get together at various venues. Races are a mix of day and overnight events and include shorter harbour courses and the longer and more challenging Night Race to Kawau, an Auckland Icon, the Route 66, Auckland to Whangarei, and the Coastal Classic, now the longest coastal single handed race in New Zealand. Linking singlehanded races from five Auckland yacht clubs the 2016-17 series will consist of ten races beginning in early October 2016, with a fleet race weekend, stopping overnight at Gulf Harbour Marina. The last race of the series will be the Devonport Yacht Club’s single handed race around Rangitoto Island in April 2017. Truly this summer’s greatest sailing challenge.
