raz88 96
Tracker shows Thompson doing 2 knots in plenty of breeze. Hopefully nothing major as he's been having a good run the last 24 hours
Fish 0
Tracker shows Thompson doing 2 knots in plenty of breeze. Hopefully nothing major as he's been having a good run the last 24 hoursDon't think he even went that slow in the doldrums. He's bearing 24 deg, with a VMG of 0.3 The wind shown is forecast wind I believe, not actual, but either way, looks suspicious. Le Clearch is doing 10 knots bearing 124. So they have gybed away from each other. This could be a telling stage of the race.
ScottiE 174
Stopped the boat to deal to the foil? He's gonna been on that board the rest of the way across the Pacific.
raz88 96
Would be a good time to do it while le cleach is doing 10 knots not 20. Fingers crossed that's all it is and it's not some drama.
Fish 0
He's back moving again this morning. Was just parked up with no wind in the centre of the low. Classic. For the first time, Thomson was reported as the slowest boat in the fleet. Do wonder if he took the opportunity to sort the foil. Wonder if he swapped out to the rumoured secret spare? Or just cleaned up the stump.
ScottiE 174
yeh just watched his vid - seemed in good spirits. The coverage is just superb! How 'bout JP Dick and Elies scurrying off to Tassie to hide - that shows some pretty serious seamanship!
Battleship 100
Apparently the tracker we have been using no longer works, the Vendee organisers got the shits that no one was using their tracker, now the data is encrypted so third parties can't use it. Battleship 100
It's still working but the data is out of date. It hasn't been updated since 0800 GMT Monday or about 9:00 last night. Compare it to the positions and boat speeds here http://www.alexthomsonracing.com/ (scroll down for tracker). It has Hugo Boss doing 16 knots.
Battleship 100
There is a campaign to voice your dissatisfaction over on twitface https://www.facebook.com/VendeeGlobe/?fref=ts
Romany 162
Damn, the unofficial tracker is by far superior. Even the Alex Thompson racing one is pretty poor by comparison Mr V Globe - if you're reading, your tracker is merde. Turn the good one back on.
Romany 162
yes. yes it did. And its still crap. Get used to it we must. I watched Alex Thompson footage earlier - he appeared to have 2 pokey out things - 1 each side. Is that old footage or has he quietly repaired his foil?
Battleship 100
They often use file footage on the VG site, keeps the conspiracy theorists happy. They have managed to get the old one up and running again using different data, no historic track yet though. https://gis.ee/vg/
Battleship 100
The windmaster 1000, Looks like lovely conditions
ex Elly 197
The 2 leaders are now past NZ and are getting into some lighter winds. The next 2 boats are now getting hammered by a storm south of Stewart Island. 3rd is heaving to in 7m seas, and 4th has diverted 150nm north thru Bass Strait.
JK 28
Have to give Conrad a big A+++ for the videos and written commentary. He must be a sponsors dream.
raz88 96
Have to give Conrad a big A+++ for the videos and written commentary. He must be a sponsors dream. Definitely. Going well too considering the boat. Given what he's producing and that he's coming up to NZ I'm surprised the media here hasn't reported anything about him. Guess they're too busy with stories of 420s capsizing in squalls in Wellington.
Battleship 100
Some impressive storm footage start watching at about 4 minutes.
