British Seagulls

Recommended Posts

So I’d been looking at Seagull outboards on Trade-me after wifey bought me a Seagull shirt for Xmas. Spotted a couple of beautifully restored ones on Trade-me and had shown some interest but they both sold. Anyway I tracked down the seller and arranged to visit him yesterday. Such a lovely guy, 86 and hands all withered up. He has been restoring Seagulls and others for most of his life. He’s pretty buggered now and is selling a few but he showed me his collection of about 50 old Seagulls and other small outboards. Absolutely amazing. He has run out of parts, mainly tanks, and run out of time. It’s so sad to think the collection will be lost. It belongs in a museum complete.

Anyway, I couldn’t leave without buying one. A beautifully restored, as left the factory, long shaft barge model with clutch. It will look awesome on the back of the dragon or on the wall, who knows.

An experience to treasure

run best on a 10;1 oil mixture, new ones ran 25;1 but didnt last, something to do with engine bushes??

The I had ran on 30/40 oil mixed 10;1 would still be going if the bracket didnt break going through tiri passage and dropping off, might still have part of the bracket somewhere.
