all fired up 6
My boat is fitted with Lewmar clutches that on the whole do a good job. One of my crew members remarked that the clutches holding the vang lines were hard to lift the lever and release when the rope was under load. Do any forum members have any suggestions for rope clutches that are easy to release when under load? a.f.u
Battleship 100
Have found the spinlock range pretty good. If it's highly loaded like the main halyard we usually put them on a which to release just to look after the clutch but they will still release ok of we are in a hurry. I wouldn't expect as much load on a Vang mind you.
raz88 96
Spinlock pxr clutches can be good for vang if you can find one of a suitable size for the boat.
Ed 143
The constrictor clutches are a piece of cake to release under load, however one of their drawbacks is that they are almost too easy to release under load. Some swear by them, others swear at them, I'm in the former camp but ymmv
Sudden5869 17
Oliver Sudden had the Vang set-up on Two Clutches, one either side. Added purchase and changed to Sinlock PXR cam cleats. Much easier to use adjust.
chariot 242
Spinlock seem to be ok on our boat. Surprised at load on vang.
