brunodut 0
What are people's opinions on these? I'm newbie so I would like your guys thoughts. Im looking at this one on TradeMe https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-marine/yachts/keeler/auction-1841627992.htm?rsqid=3ccbabd635b14b149bc81a91324639d1
marinheiro 352
Design is a virtual copy of Young 88 by Albert Sedlmayer. Cheap, condition is everything - sails, rig, paint, motor as to what will need money spent
brunodut 0
That's what I thought it is chaep but the owner said it had been treated for osmosis 2 years ago so i don't know if the hole hull has been treated or if he just fixed the spots that had osmosis.so I'm not too sure the real conditions now because if still has osmosis it might not be that cheap for what he's asking. marinheiro 352
Re the Osmosis, if this was repaired by a professional company they would have provided a 5 yr guarantee. Ask for receipts. If it was a home job and not correctly dried out I would avoid the yacht
chariot 242
I would recommend getting the boat surveyed. No survey = no insurance.
armchairadmiral 411
Yes to all above. Buy an 88. Reputedly they have no osmosis
waikiore 398
There have been a number of 88's go recently for around 20 -that is good yachting for the dollar and why they are finding thier way out of Westhaven to places like Milford Panmure Pine harbour Waiheke
brunodut 0
Thank you all, I might have to save more money and buy something better.
Addem 94
I used to own Jerstream in Tauranga. I thought it was fantastic. Easy to handle, heaps of space. They are a bit heavier than a mkIi 88. I’m surprised to hear about Osmosis as there was never any sign in Jetstream. I’d happily go back to it. But same comments apply to every boat. Check check survey check.
Kick Ass 47
Meister is a modified Challenge 29 and has never had any signs of osmosis. Very solid and roomy boats.
Vivaldi 53
Sad day for us last week but good day for Bruno as he is now the proud owner of our Carpenter 29. Bruno and his partner are lovely people so we are glad that Peacekeeper is going to go a really nice young couple starting out on their cruising adventures.
brunodut 0
Thank you so much, the yacht is amazing we love it. We will take the same care as you did, and hope to see you out there sailing again soon.
Vivaldi 53
Now the search for the next boat begins. Looking at Elliott 1050s
