waikiore 398
Well now that world sailing has committed to this class as the his and hers keelboat/trailer sailor who has ordered one fom NZ? I see that they have already discarded the electric saildrive as not suitable for other than European Lakes and reverted to a conventional Yanmar saildrive.

waikiore 398
Yes far rather have a tiller myself, and save the weight.
Fish 0
I'm a little confused as to why they wouldn't go with an existing and established offshore class. The Figaro 3 springs to mind, and looks a hell of a lot more interesting and challenging to sail well. I'm sure there are other examples of existing one design classes about. The L30 doesn't really get me excited at any level. It looks like the shortest offering of fairly much any large production builder in Europe. Many have more exciting models on offer. I'd rate a Ross 930 as much as anything over the L30.
waikiore 398
They are not pretty and i dare say the Figaro is a lot quicker but I have seen them advertised for 92000 Euro and lets face it you can get around the "Auckland" cost of yachting by hauling it out. Hopefully they are quicker than an 88 though i doubt it on the wind, as the current First 30 proved to be a big disappointment when built with basic production methods. philstar 61
I wonder what it weigh's can't find anything on the website. Like the elan its probably quite a bit heavier and thus slower than our local boats like the R930, Y88. Twin wheels is stupid on a boat so small ! They just clutter the cotpit
Island Time 1,234
1820 kg 790 in keel. Polars are impressive.
Ex Machina 365
Check the promo videos by the designer on YouTube they were made quite some time ago before the olympics hoopla . Seems a bit quicker than a 930 or a Y88 . Still ugly , still strange but has a few clever features
Priscilla II 392
Agree with this summary, designed for a crew not solo or two handed. 2.5m beam not exactly a fanger. http://interestingsailboats.blogspot.com/
philstar 61
That's quite a bit lighter than I expectyed and lighter than the elan which is around 2800kg. Short rig tho
Kick Ass 47
That's quite a bit lighter than I expectyed and lighter than the elan which is around 2800kg. Short rig tho Elan is much heavier than 2800kg
Kestrahl 6
You really think they could come up with something better than this. Even the Europeans are crying that is a step down from the lemons they are used to in this size range.
DrWatson 374
1820 kg 790 in keel. Polars are impressive. I’d say that’s bloody light. The pogo 30 is 2800 - which suddenly seems heavy cf. a R930 at 2200. Our p36 is 3800, but it’s a considerably bigger boat. Still lighter than a sunfast 3600 but o wonder how that fits in the grand scheme of things?. Josh, what does your 1050 tip the scales at?
B00B00 310
Motorboat is somewhere around 3900kg. Sunfast was 4950kg
MarkMT 68
Motorboat is somewhere around 3900kg. That doesn't sound right.
B00B00 310
Why not? Did you think it would be heavier or lighter?
markm 30
Would expect 3,900 isn't far off the mark, four in the ORC database and only XLR8 isn't within 100kg of that. Very vague memory is that XLR8 is a bit of a different 10.
