Jim Young Rocket 31

Recommended Posts

Wild thing had a huge birthday about 8 years ago by adrian.

included a new transom, new carbon mast, new sails, new keel.

She goes like a rocket. Sold to nelson where she is raced regularly.

Beautiful boat.

Public Image is another 8.4 in Auckland which was given a wee birthday at the Weiti River a few years ago used for a season then ignored for several seasons. She was sold recently, I'm not sure where to. She was built by Mr Vorpal blade who is a member on here.

The Public Image was originally a Galaxy 800 design but when we were planking it up Jim Young suggested it would be easier to fair if we extended the planking 400mm or so aft of the transom. if was an easy decision to leave it there as a scoop. The rig was also a heap bigger than the original sail plan too. It would be a fun machine with a decent T keel.

Bit of a topic drift but apparently this is a rocket 50 but with mods done by the builder , it lives on the piles at westhaven don’t know the name .

That's Relapse. Built by the owner Mark. Modern compared to most of them - I forget exactly how old but something like a 2010 build. Has cruised to Asia and back. Is entered in the Ssanz triple series coming up.

What was Party time...now in New Cal? Pink rig and odd 80's graphics

Slightly stretched Rocket 31 Built in Christchurch possibly by Cooke Brothers in the mid 80s. Always had a pink rig. If the graphics look 80s they are original. Cant believe they have lasted this long.
