SanFran 12
I've just had to replace the throttle cable. Single control with the press button to disengage gearbox type. I've got a 20hp buhk and don't know how to set the idle rpm. Might be a bit high, so would this be the cause of the difficulty in getting it into and out of gear. Reverse is especially difficult. Island Time 1,211
First thing is to remove the cables from the engine and gearbox. Set the idle speed correctly on the engine then try a gearshift by hand at the gearbox lever. If its still hard its a gearbox issue, if its easy its cable setup. Idle is set by ensuring the throttle lever comes right back to the stop, which is usually moved with an adjustment screw....
SanFran 12
Excellent. Thanks. Understood, I think it's a few mm off the stop, so will be my first adjustment, test
