Consensus here IIUC'ly, is that there is not enough testing going on, not enough testing capability in future

and I suspect not enough PPE if sh*t hits fan. Her object is keep order and calm.

So you are privy to  6 planeloads of PPE to be sold at cost to NZ govt and the govt haven't been informed?

WTF kind of Kiwi renegade spirit is that?

I'm as privy as anyone who takes interest in the news.

Yeap the PM should be trying hard to keep people calm but does she have to keep chucking out porkies or listen to experts that obviously aren't, it is one of those 2 options, so much to do that? I'd suggest no as the more porkies are told the less the PM or her supposed experts will be taken seriously.

I'm now off to take a big drive, in shorts and T shirt on a high powered motorcycle,  then practice my chainsaw juggling, loin taming, maybe I'll tell the wife her sister is way better in bed or some other well known activity likely to put you in hospital. If it's OK for the Minister of Health it must also be OK for the rest of us.

Yeah Ok, maybe not the wife bit, that wouldn't be dangerous, it would be instantly fatal.

Replacing like for like would definitely not be a progressive move.

Bugger off, you'll never see me on a motorless bike, I do take responsibility for my own actions and I do practice what I preach so it's hardly like for like. ;)

The Government is on path to eliminate Covid19. The only country in the western world to do so.

Once and if that is achieved how do they keep it out and still allow our biggest industry to work? (Tourism)

Remember this Govt chose to rid NZ of Mycoplasma Bovis and how that going...

Pathetically, with many farms still infected...

Our leadership team. .

Robertson.

studied political studies at the University of Otago, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with honours in 1995. His honours dissertation studied the restructuring of the New Zealand University Students' Association

After the 2005 election, Robertson left the Prime Minister's office to work as the Senior Research Marketing Manager for the University of Otago based at the Wellington School of Medicine

Robertson also managed the NZ Overseas Aid Programme to Samoa – a $7.7 million fund

By the way

In 1991, his father was imprisoned after stealing around $120,000 from the law firm where he worked.

Sooo. . the closest qualification to finance is his dad's record...

Adern

Ardern  worked as a senior policy adviser in an 80-person policy unit of then-British prime minister Tony Blair. She did not meet Blair in London, but did question him about the invasion of Iraq at an event in New Zealand in 2011

She attended the University of Waikato, graduating in 2001 with a Bachelor of Communication Studies (BCS) in politics and public relations.

In early 2008, Ardern was elected as the President of the International Union of Socialist Youth,[7] a role which saw her spend time in several countries, including Jordan, Israel, Algeria and China.

thats it...  A spin doctor that specializes in youth, and PR .

oh and she worked in a  fush and chup shop once.

... Thus talks a good story to the young people whom she now finds can't isolate.

Twatford

Philip Stoner Twyford (born 4 May 1963)...

Say no more. What were his parents smoking.?

Actually Stoner was his mother's maiden name.

More to come ... Nah this is enough

You guys all bitch about our politicans, specifically both "too strict" and "not strict enough", sometimes from the same person. Either front up, stand for office, as you are all obviously way better than any of them, or stay TF inside your bubble and get on as best you can.

Theirs is not a job I'd want right now for any $.....

NZ is going to weather this better than most. IMO.

Maybe you're right maybe not. But wise people don't stand for Government because it always compromises their beliefs and with MMP you cannot get enough control to do what you want without dropping your pants.

The "old hairy chest nut" arguement  to " Stand for office " also is irrelevant.

The people who stand know the "lay of the land" and sell themselves, pre election, on their ability and great skills to do a great job ( remember Lets do this!)... So they know what they are in for and where the buck stops.

This stuff isn't hard. The expert's and guidance are at thier finger tips, (crickey even their speeches are written for them) and the plans are are all written for them by the experts courtesy of World authorities like WHO, IMF..

iT.... All we want is clear, concise, consistent messaging, honesty, no dumb stuff, no spin, and as KM says no lies!...

How hard is that, for a bunch of self proclaimed leaders, on $250k plus PA.

Sorry IT, but I would do it for half the money if I did not have to get compromised by other minorities parties/ idiots and minorities groups pushing thier ideals and personal agendas (cannabis, no cars, roads, oil/gas, horse racing, ...)

The job is easy if they stuck to the basics and eliminated all the Dumb stuff   ... Starting with MMP...

And only time will tell how NZ will weather this. But looking like our curve tells me we are not better than most and that's with a very dubious testing number ratio and estricted numbers if swabs.

Hope I'm wrong.

So, from your post you are saying your unwise? :-)

Also, from your posts in this thread and others, I think you would find it very difficult to get elected....

To stand for government in a society such as ours requires a very thick skin. Agressive disagreement is common, and insults more so, almost always from people with less information, and often lower intelligence, than those they are criticizing. Even death threats are not unheard of.

Opinions are like ass%&$#@ , everyone has one.

Unfortunately most are ill informed,  and just plain wrong.

Yes, the government has, and will continue to make mistakes. Every person and every organization does, they are all human based.

Part of the issue with our political system is that the best person does not necessarily get the right job. They have to get elected as well, and deal with the complications of that.

I dont have a solution,  and I'd like to see some changes in how we handle the lockdown, especially our boarders, but on the whole, for a virus with a 1-2 % mortality,  I think they have done pretty well. Better than I expected, at least to this point. IMO.
