Roast whole scotch fillet with a mustard and herb crust just gone in the oven here . Son is making cauliflower purée while drinking several types of red and a craft beer . Sounds a bit wanky but he’s a chef and I was one many moons ago .

but to balance it out we are in the bush , offgrid and 5 sharing a longdrop so not all airs and graces ! . Happy Easter .

Keep an eye on that scotch fillet, must be nearly done by now, don’t over-do it 😊

Under L4 dentists can still operate fir emergency treatment only (I’ve been 3 times in 2 weeks). Routine check-ups are a no-no at least until we get down to L3 if not L2 (we’ll know on Thursday exactly what is allowed in the newly detailed definitions on each alert level).

So meanwhile hold off and say no thanks to a routine check unless you are in some kind of dental pain. Because if you do suddenly have a problem you will be classed as an emergency and will get priority treatment ASAP - probably same day as I did.

So, we've been anchored in Mahurangi for nearly a month.  At some stage we will need to fill up with water, which I can do easily at Gulf Harbour.  I don't want to take up valuable police time so I think I should ask someone for permission for the obviously perilous trip through Tiri Channel.  But who?  Harbourmaster actually has authority I think?  Coastguard (prefer not to ask them anything too difficult)? Police? Maritime New Zealand? (joking)

Does anyone know or are we all guessing?

I would talk to both HM and Police Maritime unit. After you have filled with water they may put restrictions on how far you can then go (nearest safe anchorage). I have heard reports that those coming back from the barrier are not allowed to go out again.

Agree with Winter on this - we had a issue the other day and the Maritime Police were reasonable and helpful.
