Ham 0
Hey guys Hamish from Frenzy here, we are very keen to get Racing C / Division 3 going again. Would be great to have a good fleet of keen racers who dont have the boats to be competitive with the likes of Anarchy and Ice Breaker but have the same competitive drive and attitudes. Think 80’s & 90’s Anarchy’s and Ice Breakers of their day and perhaps more modern but smaller boats. I have spoken with a BOI sailing week committee member who is also motivated to bring the division back as they recognise they do have a problem with the volume of boats in the island racing divisions, if you participated last year this was very evident. We have floated the idea of 1 windward leeward + an island race each day as we didn’t want people scared off by the prospect of 3 windward leewards. How ever I think all involved are keen to do what ever the majority wants and what is needed to get it going! One big thing it is going to take is getting people on board and registered early to show commitment. We are based in Tauranga so don’t have contact with the other potential participants. Hopefully this thread and the Auckland racers can get some good chat going and get people pumped for some good close racing!
Deep Purple 511
I know of 3 sport trailer yachts keen to race in C division including ourselves. Definitely going and waiting for entries to open. i don’t think we’ll have any problem getting the numbers

I also emailed them yesterday regarding bringing back div C and know of another 3 boats as well as deep purples 3 that would fit in Div C
Young Entertainer 59
Keeping a watching eye on this one, have done island racing the last few years but might be keen for a windward leeward per day to mix it up
Deep Purple 511
Bay Week entries are open so the sooner we get your entries in the sooner they can confirm Division C W/L's https://www.topyacht.com.au/db/kb/series_select.php?EventID=1292
TazzyDevil 9
We’ll be doing Div C. Will enter soon. Hopefully we get plenty of wind

At .8650 you may struggle to get into Division 3 depending on entries across the fleet
Ham 0
Based on the boats in Div B last year we definitely don't fit in there, unless they have juggled the ratings around, but Div A will be the TP52's, B will be stacked with the below machines. Div C will hopefully get loaded up with more classic kiwi racers of the 80's and 90's plus the sports boats if you guys want to avoid the actual sports boat division. Will just see how it pans out, last year they shuffled everyone around at the last minute anyway.

We aren’t actually sports boats ...no traps or racks and we have staunchions and lifelines . You beat us comprehensively in the island racing B last year so probably will again if it’s chop with light wind like last time .
Deep Purple 511
Anyone know Fantail? She's entered in Island Cruising D but looks perfect to join us in W/L's https://www.topyacht.com.au/mt/mt_pub.php?boid=7613&evid=1292
Ex Machina 365
Yeah has done the last two regattas . Very cute bakewell-white trailer boat ...would be better suited to E division

Cool boat but quite a bit slower to windward than most C div boats definitely Div E.

Deep Purple 511
Packed up and ready to roll in the wee hours for Opua. Great fleet in E Division
Deep Purple 511
We had an awesome time. Light consistent breezes Wednesday gave us 3 reasonable wins. Crazy light conditions Thursday, 2 4ths and a win and big breeze Friday a couple of wins with us skipping the bay race for an early shower and pack up. Really competitive in E Division with most of the fleet having a chance to win. PHRF and Gen Hcp didn't like us so plenty of work to do. Was great to line up on a true windward start with a big fleet. Such a well run event. Picture of us and Sport boat version sister ship animal biscuits
ex Elly 197
Quite a few DNFs on the Friday, in the small boats. Must have been windy!
Deep Purple 511
Elevation broke their rudder in the first race. Repeat Offender crushed their mast step on the way to the start. We show as retired but actually just went home after race 2. Notified race control but message lost.
