Aututaki Lagoon, Cook Islands

Bad Kitty

Recommended Posts

Was there about a year ago - got there by plane though - wish it was by yacht!

I checked out the anchorage in the town (not on the main part of the lagoon though) and there was a 40ft cruising cat and a 50ft mono cruiser there so you can get there.

The main logoon is amazing but would be hard to find your way around.

In 2005 I went through the passage in the reef SW side in a 15m

catamaran drawing 1.2m.The passage is very deep as I recall and about 20m wide.It is subject to strong tidal surges when there is a swell running.

It is/was very well marked

We tied up to the commercial dock for a week .Great place to visit :

Thanks for the replies, will do some research but I was just looking for the quick answer if anyone had seen boats staying in there.

Looks like it fits well with the new hobby (kite surfing) so we might have to change the plans for this winter & head there before Tonga.

Thanks for the help,
