YNZ ready for the Hutchwilco NZ Boat Show

Yachting New Zealand will again be at the Hutchwilco NZ Boat Show! Go find them in the Club Marine Discover Boating Centre, and enter to win your chance to participate in a Friday night rum race on a keelboat hosted by YNZ skippers in Auckland.

The popular Sailing...Have a go! programme will be a feature of the Youthtown Aqua Fun Zone, where schools on Thursday and Friday will come take part in a range of aquatic activities. At YNZ’s Sailing...Have a Go! stand, kids will compete in a relay to put on sailing gear, pack an Emirates Team New Zealand Spinnaker into an Optimist and race remote control Wind Warriors.

Any member of the public can also take part in these challenges at any point over the four day show.

Yachting New Zealand and several of their affiliated yacht clubs and class associations will be featured in a new section this year: ‘Dinghy Central’. Sponsored by Weta Trimarans, Dinghy Central is a celebration of sailing dinghies in New Zealand, planned to increase awareness of dinghy sailing among the general public, and encouraging participation in recreational dinghy sailing.

More than 20 dinghy classes will be at the show, including the Paper Tiger, Javelin, 420, 18’Skiff, 12’ Skiff, 3.7, Laser, P Class, Starling, Optimist, Zephyr, Elliot, Mistral, Jolly boat, Weta Trimaran, Phase 2, RS:X, OK Dinghy, Sunburst, A Cat, Access Dinghy, Europe and Splash dinghy.

The Hutchwilco NZ Boat Show will be on 17 – 20 May at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland. General admission tickets are $20 each, and Yacht Clubs or Class associations can apply for bulk purchase for their members at a cheaper rate. Children 16 and under get in for free!

Bar a large selection of fizz boats, man some are damn flash these days, Lusty's, ATL, Jono, Yammy and one or 2 others the rest was just trinket sellers. It was almost one of those 'One weekend only Liquidator says all must go sale' type things.

Damn good to see actual yachts in a boat show though. Big Ups to Weta and the assorted Classes that made that happen.

The crowd wasn't young bar some families with small kids wanting to climb on everything.

For a fizz boat show, there was alot of alcohol stands around...

But isn't that the whole point i.e. before you can fall out of your fizzboat and drown you need to get drunk first? Obvious really idehavethort.
