to answer the question re Aihe . . .

Aihe was a favourite of mine too - very well built. Unfortunately she was sold to Australia. When Dick Newick spoke to the club last year the prev. owner/builder mentioned that the new owner nearly wrecked her on the trans-tasman trip. Don't know any more than that.

Thanks for that ScottiE. That sounds a real shame - still 'nearly' is not 'did'.

 

Here's hoping she is still sailing. Looks like we might need to look to Australia after all to find a nice boat. With the NZ cat 1 regs, it might make sense anyway.

Buy one there, sail her . . . where ever, then bring her home.

 

Do you reckon that if it was previously registered, so therefore NZ GST has been paid on her, that you would be exempt from having to pay it again?? :wink:
