E5.9 Traveller Series, Auckland Champs, 15-16/9/2012

Recommended Posts

This weekend (15-16/7/2012) sees the third regatta in the 2012 E5.9 Traveller Series with the Auckland Champs. The event will be hosted by RAYC in Auckland, sailing as part of the Sail Akarana event.

The fleet is undergoing a bit of a transformation and growth with some keen new owners and several boats changing hands and joining the Traveller Series this year.

This weekend will see the return of Animal Crackers to the class under the new ownership of Chris Maddock. Also the two boats, Brilliant (Miles Addy) and Voodoo Magic (ex Red Rag - Craig Coulam) are under new ownership and will be racing in the series for the first time.

The Elliott 5.9 Class and Association

Offering close racing and great social events built around a 5 weekend North Island weekend regatta circuit, the Elliott 5.9 class is the perfect two or three person syndicate boat. The class is relatively low maintenance and is sailed by a crew of 3. No rail meat - everyone has a job! There are active fleets in Opua, Whangarei, Auckland, Wellington, and New Plymouth with boats in other venues like Picton, Lyttleton and Queenstown.

Subs now due

Boat owners should received a membership subscription form recently. These are now due - owners must be financial to race in the Traveller Series.
