Pull ya head in IB.

between the sheets is the official troll on this site.

By the way nobody has called you anything.

You,re to precious IB.

According to you, and a few others, anybody who does not agree with you're post is a troll. That means this place is full of trolls.

Climate change is the change of climate. Wow !

And because humans can measure it ... so what!

But can they fix it.... if it is real?

Wrong again Wheels..........."Auckland University's Associate Professor Paul Kench, a member of the team of scientists, says the results challenge the view that Pacific islands are sinking due to rising sea levels associated with climate change.

"Eighty per cent of the islands we've looked at have either remained about the same or, in fact, gotten larger," he said.

"Some of those islands have gotten dramatically larger, by 20 or 30 per cent.

"We've now got evidence the physical foundations of these islands will still be there in 100 years."

Dr Kench says the growth of the islands can keep pace with rising sea levels."

From ABC News Australia

What a load of crap.....Maybe. I say maybe because he does say 80%. There are a lot of Islands out there. However, it is a sound Geological fact of how Volcanic Islands evolve and then die. The Island grows from the Seafloor due to Eruption debris. It breaks the surface and grows to a height over a very short geological time of Hundreds of thousands of years. After a few million, it has moved on the tectonic plate far enough to then become extinct. As it moves further, it starts to sink under it's own weight, plus erosion. Eventually after many Millions of years, it becomes an Atoll. You only have to look at any Volcanic Island Chain anywhere in the world and you see the progression form the current Live Volcano back to the oldest Atoll. It is all visually represented.

Green-0, the "joke" was not warranted. We all have something to learn from each other i this subject. I take what IB has to say seriously. He is no numpty. He's a good guy and has a clue. And most importantly, he has a passion. That's where it all starts, people with passion. Too many don't care and it's why our world is in the mess it is.

Perhaps the Professor Dude should watch more David Attenborough Doco's. He may learn something and save a hell of a lot of money with bad research.

Have you got a link to the Article??

I could see David Attinborough (spelling?) in your post Wheels, I thought he explained it very well. Of course in most cases, coral does keep on growing on the top of the collapsing volcanic material, Though when you see the way some of the island nation inhabitants disrespect their terra firma you wonder if they really care, and if they don't, why should we?

I don’t know about that Between the Sheets.

I had a vision. The year is 2345 and this boffin is writing a report in his air conditioned cave. His power requirements are supplied by a steam driven generator which uses the above ground temperature and the excess water surrounding his home on Mount Egmont to wirelessly feed power to his and the other 3 million dwellings inside the mountain

In this report he is expressing his fears that the world could be heading back to the dark ages of the early 2000s if something isn’t done to reduce Global cooling.

He believes that if things continue as they are going, in the next 100 years the average temperature could fall as low as 55deg which would mean mankind could be forced to move to lower ground and find other means of producing power and food because it is believed that very little plant life could survive it a climate as cold as that the number of fish will also decline as they move to the deeper and warmer waters.

Yes agreed BTS, the chances of affective policies regarding anything that has a detrimental effect on business is zero. Never you mind the planet.

  Don't worry Bbay, in 18months odd Russell Norman will be PM (even if he looks suspiciously like David Shearer) and businesses will be come Govt enemy No 1.

Will that help the planet in even in infinitesimal way? The deluded will think yes, the realists will and already do know that it won't do squat diddly.

Knotme, thats a very jaundiced view of poor Norman, you ought to at least give him some rope before you hang him.
He doesn't need more rope. Every second thing the guys says is an outright lie. He either knows that which means he's more than happy to pull the wool over peoples eyes to get what he wants or he doesn't know he's lieing in which case he doesn't have the knowledge or mental capability required to run a country. Personally I'm sure he's lieing knowing full well he'll never have to front up as his supporters are all still too stone to realise and he'll never be PM in his own right, even though he will be by using Shearer as his puppet. So anything he says which pans out bad will only be blamed on Shearer or Key. But what he does know is Labour can't do nothing unless Russell OK's it 1st, he has his hand so far up Shearers bum he's hanging onto his tonsils.

Anyway when the Govt gets voted out, NZ never votes in Govts, Russell will be the king maker and he will want his pound of flesh which will include subsidising the NZ power grid via that PowerNZ he tricked Shearer into saying out loud but he will also SLAM business with massive ETS taxes to cover the subsidies and the many billions of dollars of spending he's promised but has no money for.

Russell Norman is the biggest threat NZ faces in the short term and on so many levels it's beyond scary, and that included environmentally.

So I have no idea why you'd say that Steve

Nope, I'd use 100% petroleum based rope and then wrap him in un-recycled plastic bags

Just another recycled Aussie, Julia will be free to assist shortly,

You can't say that he hasn't warned us what the plan will be,

As Key said he would sell assetts, unc Norman will reclaim them.

I think the ets is dead in the water and by the next election it wont surface again.

I think the ets is dead in the water and by the next election it wont surface again.
Oh yes it will.

Labour policy is to hammer farmers with the ETS so they can pay for all their wannabe socialist ideals. They have said that out loud on a few occasions and their website says that, or it did last suss. Nothing they have said they will spend the money on will be related to GCC so they obviously just see it as another income source, one they will desperately need. As that will also suit the Greens spending agenda they will make sure it happens.

Don't forget these 2 have promised spending many billions in excess of current income so they have to get it from somewhere and the ETS is a real easy one to use.

Hence my comment about the Greens damaging the environment and setting environmental causes back by their stupid dumb short sited power grabbing political desires. NZ's mob is no different to others around the world. When they get the reigns of power the green suddenly seems to be come conveniently Chameleon as reality bites.

Lots of reading and opinions in this post. I guess as an Engineer I prefer to get my data from a more scientific source than the odd journo. Nasa's earth observatory program has lots of hard data /science on this subject. Which includes global cooling ,dimming, as well as warming!

http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Featur ... rature.php

Howeve there are plenty who still think Nasa didnt send anyone to the moon, usually those that also think Elvis is still alive!

Retired from the ranks of the Political Scientists - the kings/queens of verbosity.

Interestingly, about the only source of popular news source in the U.S. that treats climate change (due to human activity) as established science is the Weather Channel. They have no patience at all for the deniers.

Many of the professional skeptics have sketchy credentials, and pecuniary motives.
