Manual for Clubs online

Recommended Posts

Many of you will be involved in clubs and class associations, some of you may have seen the original YNZ Club Manual around your club, a binder with useful information and resources to help run your club.

We have re-launched the new YNZ Club Manual on the YNZ Website, making it a much more accessible and useful resource for clubs, Commodores, flag officers and members.

Having the Club Manual online allows us to update the information as needed so you always have up to date information, it means that it can be accessed by anyone at any time and we can add useful resources to it as we find them. We encourage people to send us anything they feel would be useful to share with others.

The manual includes the following sections:

- What YNZ does

- Sailing Programmes

- Inclusion

- Coaching

- Resources for Clubs

- Club Risk Management

- Funding

- Advocacy

- Communication and Media

- Useful areas of the YNZ Website

- Race Management and Running Events

- Handicaps and Ratings

- Good Practice Ideas for Clubs

Yachting New Zealand’s strategic purpose is to help New Zealanders access, enjoy and succeed on the water for life. We recognise a major part of this is ensuring clubs are capable and strong. We hope this manual will be a valuable tool to clubs and classes in helping achieve their goals.

The Club Manual can be found here http://www.yachtingnz.org.nz/clubs/club-manual

The manual has been recently updated with new guidance and templates for running club rescue boats and a new risk management system for clubs.

The web site also should have a oblong  red box noting it has a addition added with the date  and section

Instead of becoming "risk adverse" and making club volunteers jobs difficult how about a manual on how to gain more members, make yachting fun, and easy, and a plan to attract schools and young people

to yacht clubs.

Gee!- how about a plan that involves no manuals and just plain old _roll up your sleeves and support the sport and clubs with what they want rather than what you want them to have.

Why would anybody want to volunteer for a job that full of

Paperwork/compliance/stress/and systems!... as opposed to "making sailing easy"!

Looks at the sports kids love!... they all involve danger and no rules...

Scate boards, boy racing in cars, motor bike tricks/jumps, ...

Yachting is so sterile and boring for Gen xyz

Most of the information is available already on the ISAF website. It's the manual they provide / recommend  for yacht clubs to follow with other handicapping systems and how to organize / run races / clubs free also.

So what's the big deal duplicating.
