Why are the boat & wind speeds in KPH instead of KNTs, is it to fool the great unwashed that these boats are faster than the AC boats?

Future of Auckland Aniversary Regatta

Went out to see the Auckland day regatta 2024 on the harbour; only a handful of boats racing, counted only 3 boats in the vintage division and similar in other keelers' division, overall not many boats on the water, non event. Use to be hundreds out in the olden days.

We race up to Mahurangi Friday nite and plenty boats up there.

Big changes this year.

They could have added an extra day. They could added more races per day. But no, they did both!

Was 3 days, one race per day. Now 4 days, two races per day. That's right 8 races. Some of those crews won't know what's hit them!

Auckland Winter Racing Windward Leewards in the Back Paddock

If you have a hankering for some Windward Leewards this winter. This might be only winter racing in Auckland with this format.
BBYC Winter Series is based on 5 Sundays with a Harbour Course. And 4 Sundays with two Windward Leeward races, usually held in the Back Paddock. Will be a bunch of 88s, 1020s and similar sized keel boats.
Entries close this Friday. Harbour and Windward Leeward entry options. Individual racing is also available.

Sport Integrity Commission launch investigation into Yachting NZ following raft of conduct complaints

The Sport Integrity Commission has launched an investigation into Yachting NZ following a raft of cultural, athlete welfare and conduct complaints.

The investigation, instigated under section 32 of the Integrity Sport and Recreation Act, is set to be the first high profile test of the new agency's powers.

The new agency has received at least five separate complaints against YNZ.

It is not believed any current athletes in YNZ's high performance programme are among the complainants.

What happened to this race ? Saw them milling around before the start and perfect sailing conditions up to the Mairangi turning mark but they never came up the bays -not even to Takapuna or the H28 mark at Milford ? Was it North Head to the Viaduct?

most clubs are only printing them if skippers say they want them nowadays. when offered, do you accept them?

do you mount them on your boat or store them elsewhere?

So they started a day late, but still had to head into 30-35 knots on the nose. I wondered if any would park up for a few hours, but looks like all 15 starters headed straight into it. The wind has now abated to 18 knots from the east.

3 have retired, and Hotdogger is resting at Gulf Harbour.

Hi,

Apologies if this is not the place to post. I will be travelling to NZ from UK in the next couple of weeks.
I have the 17-18th Feb available during the day and wish to have private sailing yatch lessons for a beginner for the 2 days. I am a little too late for sailing schools as they are booked up. Just wanted to check if anyone here with a boat is interested to take this up….let me know availability and cost please.

I want to get some experience before doing my day skipper training.
