Handhheld with all the twidly bits

The aerial snapped off my Uniden hand held a little while back, which is a shame cause it's only a couple years old and otherwise great. It's the little metal threaded fitting on the body of the radio just gave up the ghost - I'm not conscious of a direct cause.

Anyway, I was looking at alternatives, and thought these might be good. Anyone got experience/feedback on these?

The built in GPS for calling the boat or help back to you is nice. How submersible are they really?

They're OK but have a play with one before you buy if you can. If it's the model I think it is, then everything that you would normally do with the radio is done by buttons ..... Volume adjustment, squelch, etc is done by menus and buttons rather than a rotary potentiometer. Some people are OK with that, some aren't.

I have the model before that one with the gps from uniden, have given it a hiding and still works find it has been dropped, drowned, slid around the cockpit in the combing for hours and hasn't missed a beat. Would buy another tommorrow.

Range is good also mine is 1w/6w nice funtion is that you can select either from the talk as there is a boost button for when you want 6w.

This is the one I have

I'd recommend you look at the icom range - not the cheapest options but the last remaining comms specialist I think. Great performance and longevity!

And I have one for sale if your interested! Icom unit. PM me for more details
