Changed 10
Was wondering if anyone has found a gps that will connect to a wifi enabled iPad? Some of the web reviews are not that favorable.
Island Time 1,184
Yep. Both the vesper marine ais and the digital yacht ones, with WiFi, work well, but not exactly a GPS!...
Fusion 0
Take the leap and up grade to the 3G iPad it has GPS built in and is the best option with Navionics. Then you get to read crew.org when you get to the destanation. You dont need to have a sim in for the GPS to work.
Changed 10
Just a bit tight really. Get all the data through hot spotting the phone. Navionics works well on the phone so would like same on pad.
OYSTR 1
I've seen the Navionics app working on a wifi only iPad when "hot spot" connected to a phone with GPS. Have you tried that? Downside is using up the battery on both devices at the same time.
Changed 10
Yes I have. With no luck. Is the iphone 5s different to the 4s?
OYSTR 1
Yes I have. With no luck. Is the iphone 5s different to the 4s? Possibly if they're on different versions of iOS. Maybe try hotspot by bluetooth compared with wifi.
Zozza 283
This is what you want http://bad-elf.com/ They sell a version for both wifi only iPads with lighting connector, or the older style dock pin.
Absolution 7
Have a look for a Bluetooth connected GPS rather than WiFi. The Garmin GLO should work fine but there are cheaper ones around too. There are also a few apps that let you share a phones GPS via Bluetooth.
