Fogg 427
The Auckland Council Emergency Coordination Centre has been actively monitoring weather conditions across Auckland. Since Sunday night, between 70 and 110mm of rain has fallen in northern and western parts of the region with 50 to 60mm elsewhere. Rainfall has resulted in higher than normal stream levels, particularly in the west and the north. Emergency Services have only responded to a handful of weather related calls since Sunday. MetService expect rainfall to continue this afternoon with localised downpours, up to 30mm/hr, possible tonight. A storm currently sitting to the northwest of Northland is expected to move across Auckland tonight. This storm is expected to bring damaging winds up to 130km/hr for the Hauraki Gulf, Waiheke Island, Whangaparaoa Peninsula and north eastern areas. All of the region should expect winds gusting in excess of 100km/hr tonight. Strongest winds are likely between the hours of 8pm tonight and 6am Wednesday. Power outages, trees down and localised wind damage is expected tonight. The Emergency Coordination Centre will be staffed to monitor these weather conditions. maharg 2
Looks like at least two yachts have broken moorings and are beached at Northcote Point. Also I might be wrong but I am sure there is a large mast where a mast shouldn't be at the North Shore side of the Harbour Bridge.
Clive 13
Just heard that Classique broke her mooring so that's probably
Vorpal Blade 89
are all the multis in the bay accounted for?
waikiore 398
Small Jim Young cat against motorway, and judging by the size of the rig - it must be Mals Classique lying against the bridge!
Vorpal Blade 89
Just got back after checking, the crew website wouldn't let me log in on the iPhone. All the multis are fine, there are a few boats that have dragged their moorings, multiple dismastings and a few opened up furlers - now in bits. Yep it is the Young cat and also an H28 on the wall by where the toll plaza was. Classique is right in by the bridge, it took out the wharf and didn't quite get to hitting the bridge. The mooring line is intact and the bottom gear on the mooring is visible so it must have towed the whole lot ashore through the mooring field. No doubt hitting a few along the way. Guest
Classique is still connected to it's mooring, it dragged the entire thing thru the mooring area but the looks. There are 4 other boats under the bridge, it looks as if everyone of them are there due to rope chafe. Reports of maritime carnage coming in from all over. At our place - moved a old fridge from a sheltered corner in the drive and moved it 5mts before tipped it up Lifted a Frostbite off it's trailer, moved it 4-5mts and flipped it up. Lifted a sheet of roofing, created a new leak in the house. Lifted the entire boat shed up and stove the western side in, luckily the legs hit the boat and stopped further movement. The boat made it thru OK from a suss this am.

Because the weather forecaster is a multihull lover / fan and not the Mediterranean fan worm and the race at the moment does not seem to have multihulls racing. Be interested to know the final tally number. You are supposed to take your boat north to the Island safe harbour times.

OYSTR 1
Gulf Harbour Marina also had nearly 70 knots go through it Hi Gulf harbour boaties, Last night saw the worst weather conditions we have experienced in the marina in a long time. At the height of the storm gusts of nearly 70 knots were recorded on the end of O pier. A large number of yachts and Launches throughout the marina have sustained wind damage. Michele is personally calling the most effected owners and all our dock staff are out on the marina trying to mitigate any further damage. Given the situation The marina strongly suggests that ALL owners to come and check on their own boat. You know your boat better than us and may well pick up something that we have missed. If you are unable to do so please give us a call Safety first please be careful Regards

Fogg 427
Good Afternoon, The Auckland Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) is still activated and continuing to monitor and respond to the situation. The Auckland Emergency Coordination Centre has logged a total of 388 incidents as a result of the severe weather overnight. 44 of these buildings received low to moderate structural damage. Council building inspectors are following up with affected customers to ensure that occupants are provided with any assistance that may be required. Island Time 1,220
Yep, windy at Gulf Harbour. Prob gusting 50-60 here in the village marina in the middle of the night. That's the most we have seen in the last year and a bit since we have been here. A few wrecked covers, and other minor issues, but I've not noticed anything more. Still, better here on land than at sea last night!!
