Upturned dinghy design

Recommended Posts

For a while we used a dinghy very similar in "design"  - and I use the word VERY loosely - proudly produced by a plastics molding company somewhere near the end of the southern motorway.

It was by far the most dangerous piece of flotsam I have ever encountered.

Upon heeling it presented the occupants with vanishing stability. It regularly swamped. It was heavy as hell.

It's dual hull form resulted in a high degree of sinkage with no reserve stability or buoyancy.

It should never have been made let alone sold. Surely if you manufacture a boat to sell it should meet some kind of safety standards. They should really just stick to making items that keep water in rather than out...

A corrugated iron canoe would have been safer.
