Clipper 358
That is incredible, I thought catching them aboard a yacht that had been reported stolen was a done deal. Someone stuffed that up pretty badly.

erice 732
NSW legal has slowly been morphing into USA where slippery lawyers and loads of money buy the guilty freedom
Dagwood 69
How could you be proud to work in and be part of a sector which is so stuffed up this sort of thing can actually happen?
armchairadmiral 411
The law is an ass. Scott Watson convicted...no bodies.Peter Ellis convicted on fairy tales.Arthur Thomas convicted assisted with planted evidence. McDonald found not guilty of murder. The Burdett conviction (can't remember his name) The fisherman (Rex somebody) convicted of murder. Here we have the yacht that an Insurance company paid out on apparently. And clearly the Harlech. Who said crime doesn't pay ? Next he will be sueing NSW Govt.for wrongful arrest. You would think he would have to prove ownership via his Customs clearance papers which he obviously didn't have.Illegal importation of goods. etc.etc....the list goes on
ScottiE 174
Are you surprised that a suspected thief in one country gets off in a court in Australia - having sailed from that different country - with their lineage!
RushMan 31
A conviction might slow down the extradition process... Perhaps it is best to put him on the next plane to NZ and let you sort it out
DrWatson 382
When we get him back here we can probably try him for the actual crime of stealing the boat, in a NZ court. different system, different crime.
Black Panther 1,692
So they got off because it was a cutter not a ketch- wonder what Scott Watson thinks of that?
grant 44
So does that mean he gets to keep the boat?

He faced 60 charges, including one of stealing the yacht, thefts, frauds, and causing people to act on forged documents. Police have also charged him with indecent assaults on a 15-year-old girl in Auckland in 2008 and supplying her with the class B drug MDMA, or ecstasy.
