Recommend trimmer for new squabs?

Recommended Posts

Missus FLC wants some "Professional" type to make and cover new squabs for the 830.

It seems she trusts my upholstery skills as much as I do...

Can anyone recommend a good trimmer who will get it done before xmas without eating into the new sail budget too much?

Boat is on the hard in Whangaparaoa.

Thanks Adrian.

Am I correct in thinking a substantial saving could be had by sourcing and cutting the actual foam squabs myself - and handing them all to one of these chaps to cover?

Looks like a high density 25mm foam sheet glued onto the bottom of a 75mm medium poly foam mattress could be the way to go. Soft enough for comfort but the lower layer would prevent hip/elbow clunking on the bunk tops, while not being too fat...?

i asked bill to do some for me a couple of years ago, he passed me on to a mate who did a good job, although needed some pushing re timing. Cant recall the name, but he was based up the top of tristram ave.  I would think sourcing and cutting the foam yourself would be a great help. Good foam is bloody expensive.

While I don't do upholstery I work very closely with a guy that specialises in it - Paul at Timeless Upholstery 027 491 8647.

Don't rush out and buy anything thinking it wii save you $$ until you have spoken to him. As Ken says the good stuff is expensive and the $40 foam mattresses at the Plastic Box and other retailers isn't that flash and something I wouldn't ever use for a boat squab, particularly is its to sleep on.

Thanks - I've passed the number onto the Minister for profit disbursement and shoe acquisitions for follow up.
