Black Panther 1,581
Can anyone tell me the incremental cost for arriving in Aus outside work hours.? Enquiry on behalf of a cruising bum trying to plan arrival time.
Battgirl 23
Recalling a well published case a few years ago firstly give 96 hours notice of arrival or it will cost thousands. Extra charge of A$288 for saturday or sunday on top of standard A$300. If you arrive during the week they just clear you the next day without extra charge. I just saw that info from a Bundaberg yacht club or something sorry didn't get the link
ex TL systems 63
cost nothing to clear out of Bundaberg last month. maybe they were just keen for me to leave, they were very helpful prepared to clear us on the weekend and never mentioned any costs.
Huey 7
There is a newspaper magazine free at boatbooks or you can get digital subscription The Coastal Passage based in Queensland . Its very interesting as looks at the over the top tactics to keep any boat people out.... just story after story of people loosing their boats and dreams because entering with the wrong time paperwork visas or lack of the wrong type of transmission of paperwork ie from pacific islands with poor comms Hardly any good excuses for a few years there... slightly better now but with recession to boot alot of NQ businesses struggle as many cruisers by pass Australia. Friends recently arrived from nz orginally europe but joined organized indo cruize and got more help than others arriving singularly. pass the word on
haiqu 1
TCP is no longer published in hard copy, but you can download in PDF format here: http://www.thecoastalpassage.com/ Get onto their mailing list and they'll remind you when each issue is available. Published quarterly. Here's a good summary of clearance formalities: http://www.noonsite.com/Countries/Australia/?rc=Formalities Best to contact Australian Customs directly for overtime fees, or just try to arrive midweek. A recent antifoul will most certainly save you a lot of money and headaches, especially for a timber yacht.
