Winch handle size

Didn't know they came in big and small (and not talking handle length) So how scarce are the big ones? Do they come up on Trademe? Need a big one for a big Nilsson winch

Winch sockets were standardised in the early 70's, before that there was a range of sizes so finding a handle will be unlikely.

 

The good news is the 8 pointed bit is basically two squares offset 45 degrees, get a vernier and measure across the flats, and a machine shop should be able to knock up a square bit and mount to a handle relativity cheaply

I have 1 or 2 old square socket winch handels at home if that is what you are after. I think they are maxwell but not sure, I will check.

I measure the standard handle at 17mm, and need a 7/8' handle
