Happy Teeth the Leopard Seal

Recommended Posts

Funny how the Leopard seal advocate has gone very quiet about the shooting claim, saw Happy Teeth last night on the dock by Romanza looking very contented for a shot thing, the Herald should be made to retract their printed misinformation.

This seal has been seen up north, and other placers. What I would like to know, has it destroyed inflatables in those other placers as well. Or is it just a Westhaven thing.

Mate has inflatable tied to back of his boat, and just wondering, if seal comes north to Mahurangi, is there a chance that the ding gets the bite.

Yes. It destroys deflatables anywhere it goes. Its done a couple up the Weiti, which is kind of more problematic than in Westhaven, being its a tad more complicated to get from your boat to the car there without a dink.

Saw a FB post from the happy teeth specialist that the damn thing is alive and well, has puss coming out of its nose but is otherwise acting normal, moving around the upper harbour area, feeding no problems etc.

Note that there is more than one of these 'incredibly rare, we are lucky to have it' animals about. I'm not usre of the dinghy eating attributes of the others. While others are in the Auckland region, they tend to say out of the way of humans - much smarter animals those other ones...

Not sure about NZ, but in Antarctica they use Armour to protect the zodicac's from being punctured by leopard seals.

Just last weekend I met a yachting friend who had been attacked by Happy Teeth in Westhaven, yes yes I hear the the girl saying she was just chewing his dinghy up but all the same he was lucky to scramble on to a finger as it went down under him. I repeat what I said three years ago, if a great white was cruising Westhaven how long would it have lasted? And if you dont want to tranquilise -then use a net and Kelly Tarlton truck to send to the West Coast

I wish it would eat the little handbag dog of one of idiots going on about how cute she is. That might change a few minds.

I saw a comment on one of the many facebook loveins about the ‘cute’ seals that said “ I love it how they eat the boats”

Idiots

I think NZ needs watch out, we are now dumb enough as a society to vote in someone like trump. Oh wait, we have jacinda and winston.

Hows that for thread drift...? ;-)

Appropriate is how I would assess your drift.

Politics aside, she makes me want to vomit, but anyway back to business. Get rid of the damn thing (& no I haven't tried to do so already. Don't own and can't abide guns)

Didn't have happy teeth but did have a couple of bronzies check out my inflatable last Monday with me in it. The wife wasn't keen on stepping off the back of the boat and into the dinghy.

Where was that?

In the nature is cruel but hey its nature file, we saw killer whales having a feeding frenzy thing in the Lau this year. Pretty unusual to see them there I heard since.

Anyway they were on our track and we approached them thinking it was a boil up meatball kind of thing, except it wasn't. It was 5 killers attacking a humpback calf and cow. Targeting the calf.Quite traumatic actually, Relentless.
