LED Navigation Bulbs

Recommended Posts

Has anyone got any advice with Navigation LED bulbs?

My masthead nav light bulb needs to be replaced. Its Glamox/Aquasignal brand with a standard BAY15D fitting.

LEDs Unlimited sell the bulb for $18.

DrLED who make USCG certified bulbs sell a OEM part for $59 USD (ouch)!! https://www.doctorled.com/store/nav-LED-bulb/Single-color-Nav-bulb/BA15D-NAV-LED-BULB-PERKO

Even if I brought 4 of the LED unlimited ones if they didnt last as long I would still be on top financially.

Thoughts?

I sell what I reckon is the best masthead light available. Tri colour, strobe, anchor. Auto on/off by available ambient light, draws 0.15a at 12v. $480.00. In stock.

Quite a few crew.org.nz members have them.

50000 hours mtbf.

Can you get LED bulbs only for existing incandescent lenses?

Isn't there an issue with the tone of colour and all of that?

Or is bigal trying to replace an LED bulb in and existing LED masthead light?

I have one of Matts fancy Anchor lights. It is as good as he says

I would not put LED replacement in an existing filament socket - only for the reason that that connection always shits itself - spring contacts, salt air and all that. I've never had them last very long before you need to climb back up and jiggle it to make it go again :(

Nope, sorry. And a light that is certified with an incandescent bulb is NOT certified for led, the colour changes, and the diffuser is different.
