Magic Bus launched at Milford marina

Recommended Posts

As a then 15 year old sailing junkie I remember having a look over the Bus at the 1976 1/4 Ton NZ champs run by PYBC. It made a huge impression - a real race boat with no pretence at anything else and made everything else seem old fashioned. If you look at the film clip there is only 10 years (and two rating rules) between Rainbow II and MB. .

Quite a few of us attended, hopefully get a video of it to Murray who is overseas, Steve Trevurza attended all the way from Aussie, and the whole thing is a credit to Dave for pulling it together and finishing her to such a high and original standard.

Loved Seafly....Cply.  built out of Cedar ply   and got a birthday in the mid 80s as a Jog racer..and won the Bruce and Walsh JOG series....but the rounded transom not modern like this...Smokey Joe is a sweet boat in good nick...but that is an underwater package from 'yester' year
