S.M.U. 15
Right, last day for entries tomorrow. Who else is in? Big fleet of two handers, will this division be bigger than fully crewed?
Kick Ass 49
Looks as if a fe 2 handers have entered the fully crewed division?

ballystick 79
What safety category is this race and how are these categories determined?
Ed 145
It’s Cat 3 plus You must carry a life raft (dinghy on deck is NOT acceptable) 33% of your crew must have a current advanced sea survival certificate. Sat phones I think are recommended but not mandatory The catagory classification is usually determined by a conversation between the organising committee, YNZ and maybe the solas(?) committee. There are broad guidelines but you can make tweaks like this race and the coastal have done.
ballystick 79
Thanks Ed, it can get pretty rough out there and it's good to see that sort of consideration being enforced. I hope everyone has a nice trip
chariot 244
Any finishers yet. Would be tough coming back up to Colville and not pleasant in the channel.
Ed 145
Unlikely, race doesn’t start until the 15th????
chariot 244
My mistake. Thought it was this weekend.
Island Time 1,284
Bit of carnage at the start this morning, blown sails, one dismasting (start me up). Fresh breeze well aft going down, might not be so good coming back, likely upwind.
Fish 0
I was going to ask what happened at the start. SMU's tracker showed them heading west up the harbour. A couple of other trackers were slow to get moving after the start also. Looked like things were happening that weren't according to plan. Serena, the Thompson 38 has a video of them sending it off the start (on FB, Kraken Yachting), they have a red flag flying from the backstay. Some kind of start line incident? PS Big bugger for SMU. My condolences on that. Wont help the RNI programme, obviously.
Ed 145
Leaders have gybed, whats the nowcasting saying at channel?
Island Time 1,284
Channel has 19 gusting 28 right now
Jon 395
SMU chain plate let go, rig is all good so not a complete disaster, better there than 100nm of Manukau Heads
Ed 145
Channel has 19 gusting 28 right now Sounds awesome, would we expect the fleet to go inside or outside the mercs?
Fish 0
Leaders are around Channel at 1 pm. Anarchy 1st (15.6 knts), Exodus 2nd (17.5 knts), Titanium looking at 3rd (15.1 knts). Some old green boat may make it around in 4th but Serene and Clockwork are close in the hunt for 4th.
Ed 145
Mr Kite will be in there somewhere, do the radio scheds get posted? I'm guessing by the time the first one is due tomorrow morning a good chunk of the fleet will be around the island
Fish 0
I can't see Mr Kite on the tracker, nor a few others i.e. Sniper. Its only a phone based tracker, so some boats drop in and out, or it gives random info. Pepe is right up amongst the 1050's...
Jon 395
CU Later is ahead of all the 1050s Bet that’s wet If you use Marine Traffic you can fill in some of the blanks, just check how old the data is
Deep Purple 527
I just flew from Whitianga to Ardmore and back. It's seriously windy around the Coromandel It's meant to be dropping and according to predict wind observations it is but it's still really fresh here.
