Duty Free 2
Hi--can anyone point me in the direction of someone experienced with B&G gear --I have B&G wind/depth, Zeus 7 chartplotter, NAIS-400 and NPLE splitter, and 2 triton displays---unfortunately the system is only working intermittently since the RNI and currently not displaying anything other than the chartplotter information (but not the AIS information )-----have tested the connections and power which is going through the whole backbone etc --data only seems to be being displayed intermittently Now its got beyond my capabilities so want to get an experienced person in to sort out what the problem is and hopefully fix it --any help appreciated , Andrew M
ex Elly 152
There was a guy called Craig who spoke at the Coastal Classic clinic. Knew his stuff. Was representing B&G, so maybe from Navico?

raz88 86
We had very similar symptoms and it turned out to be a simple fix. The nmea 2000 network requires a terminating resistor at each end. These sometimes fail. Basically if the terminator at the end of the network fails then you get all sorts of oddball intermittent things happening with the network, which sounds like more or less what you have. Fairly cheap and easy to swap out, (once you find it it just clips on) included in packs like this https://www.burnsco.co.nz/shop/root/12v-electrical/electronics/chartplotter/fishfinder-accessories/garmin-nmea-2000-starter-pack Or may be able to be bought on their own. Island Time 1,116
Yep, Craig is one of Navico's tech staff. There are two B&G Tech specialist dealers in Auckland (Ok, well, NZ!) me and Dave Minors. Ist thing I'd do is look in the Network Diags screen on the Zeus. Look for network errors etc, and network load stats. Issue is likely poor installation (not complying with N2K rules) bus power, a Terminator, or a faulty T connector. Could also be a chafed cable.... Who installed it? If it was professionally installed, then there should be a 2 yr warranty. I have a collection of spare T's and terminators, T's are about $60 each - but they are waterproof, which other manufacturers are not. Next step would be to connect a laptop with diag software and load test the network. Let me know (0221539176) if you want to book some time to sort it out. Or call Dave, if you prefer (021 635 038) Finally, Tazzy Devil, the Vulcan is not designed to network, it's meant to be the only MFD on the network. However, if you update to the latest software version, you may find this issue improves. Also, ensure that under "network" and "sources" the "this device" is selected for the GPS.
