Watching practice races?

Recommended Posts

Makes sense. I get the start times so know whats happening live and then after they have gone past or there are exciting bits, we can re watch 2 mins later on the tv down below. works quite well.

Youtube is good, streams better than TVNZ (which sux) and has better commentators.

Watching those boats in the prestart in front of you or bearing away at top mark hasnt got dull yet... (and Ive been out there 6 of last 7 days)

the race director Iain Murray might be able to offer them a reprieve - with additional practice days if the harbourmaster and all teams can agree.

"I would like to be out there on some more days, clearly there aren't any days on the schedule at the moment," Murray said

"The days that I had pencilled into my diary were the 7th, 8th, 11th and 12th [of January] as maybe days that it might be possible but there is a lot of agreement needed on that."

...

Racing takes a break until 15 January when the three challengers will be back competing for the Prada Cup to win the right to race Team New Zealand for the America's Cup in March.

and MIT did something like the manta even earlier, I think.

The Trampofoil guys got some free TV time at the time. They tried to go commercial but this simply too niche. In later years one of them has been involved in a foiling motorboat project with better economical backing. That project may take off (pun intended).

looks like more practice races monday, tuesday...but not much information on when and where yet

A compromise has clearly been reached and the Herald understands all four teams will have practice races on Monday and Tuesday before the challengers' boats are officially measured on Wednesday ahead of the Prada Cup opening round robin starting on Friday.

the usual websites currently don't seem to have anything up about today and tomorrow's races

the teams will already know

wonder when we will?

Usual time 1500, usual area back paddock ( course area E ).

thanks, went down to the viaduct and got a bit of information from the yellow clad guides

as above plus ineos seem the only team interested in a semi-organised 1 on 1 race with etnz

prada and america magic preferred not to go up against etnz today

prada and america magic preferred to go their own way today

ETNZ beat Ineos in first matchup.

American Magic won second against Ineos.

Watched ETNZ capsize. Fell of foils during a gybe, nose dived then slow capsize. They were towed upright fairly quickly, dropped the main and jib and were towed home.

If anyone is interested in watching tomorrow Mellon's Bay is the place to go.
