alibaba 76
I have a Garmin Echomap 65 chartplotter.. Nice unit, works as well as others I have had. However, it gets really hot. The screen is approaching 'too hot to touch' country. and if my computer was working at that temperature, I'd be concerned. Garmin have been contacted and insist there is nothing wrong. Has anyone else noticed this with Garmin chartplotters, or any other chartplotters for that matter?
Island Time 1,230
Some do seem to get really hot. The B&G Zeus3 series does that....esp the smaller screen ones.
Fogg 427
This time of year especially with direct sun on the screen yes b hot. My last Raymarine Axiom Pro screen actually went into hibernation if it got too hot with direct sun on it for a couple of hours.
chariot 242
My Garmin gets very hot and it's internaly mounted. Can't remeber model number but is 9" screen. Only 3 months old.
kiwi_jon 26
Try turning the display brightness down and observe what happens. It could be the display backlight causing the heat.
alibaba 76
Thanks, that's could be a possibility - it's on auto at the moment. Also sort of nice to see that I'm not the only one!
