About the same here. but the sea state is incredible . I’ve been watching that reef through the telescope . The waves are at least 5 metres with a 2 metre cross chop from the south . The spray when they break would be blowing at least 80ft up in the air
Black Panther 1,338
I know that reef well. Used to be good for snapper back in the day. If it's breaking then do not go boating. That's actually pretty surprising.
darkside 55
Not a fun day for the seven cargo boats anchored off Tauranga today. 4.5m beam sea with peaks of 6.5m...

Still good for snapper and the area was good for for several species of game fish just a month ago

waikiore 294
That Matapouri shot is a rare one, reminds me of going to Pataua once in the 1980 summer where we just stood and watched too scared to get the boards off the VW. No one was out.

I spent 4 years going over Brophy's hill in a skool bus many years ago and I don't recall ever seeing the bay break right across like that. The boats moored at front beach would have had an interesting time.
