Winter 42
I need to replace my engine control. With the same as whats there - same cutout etc and existing control wires. I can't read the brand of the old unit. After searching online and looking at manuals and dimensions etc, it appears I'm after a vetus AFSTZIJ. Searching around, none here locally. But I've found one at the engine room under ' beta single arm controller' which looks identical in its mechanism, cutout, etc.. Looks identical. Does anyone know if this is actually an older standard design that just been copied identically and rebaged by a few different brands? Who's was the original design? The beta version is half the cost of the vetus version.
marinheiro 352
its one of these, been rebadged possibly from Ultraflex, my yacht has the same https://marinepartssource.com/side-mount-sailboat-control-seastar-solutions-ch2100p
marinheiro 352
some advice I received from Bill "overall man of action" Falconer re these shifts, try and keep them covered when moored and keep the red button from the old unit as a spare (if still in 1 piece), these are a very common failure no doubt due to weathering
waikiore 398
Yes they were originally made by TX now badged as many different names, Beta one will be fine.
Winter 42
Awesome, thanks guys, And the beta one is in stock. Winner. Amazing the price difference between brands for identical parts. Burnsco can get the vetus one in but they told me it would take 5 months 😅
Marshy 30
I have just pulled a genuine Volvo Penta one out from my launch - was a downstairs helm station so lived inside in the dry all its life. If anyone needs a new one get in touch. I like rum
