DoT 31
Check out this live (-ish) bird tracker. https://www.globalflywaynetwork.org/flyway/east-asian-australasian-flyway/map One of the tracked godwits is underway from Alaska, covering ridiculous distances every day. Black Panther 1,586
Brilliant. They nest on the beach next to our boat, so look forward to seeing them. Just wish the arseholes who think the No Dogs sign doesn't apply to them would piss off.
Fogg 427
Bird migration fascinates me. The drivers of migration and the various routes and ways birds achieve it including the navigation is nothing short of miraculous. I used to watch the raptors on the move around S Europe and all across Africa. Plus the more interesting LBJs (fellow twitchers will recognise this acronym) 😊 I’ve had this book since I was in my 20s I think. I was reading it again only this afternoon (must be a spring thing). Steve Pope 243
To us it is miraculous, to the birds it is normal, just what they do.

Fogg 427
Hers another lovely bird book if you’re looking for ideas for a bird-loving or nature-loving family member (it’s a fact-inspired fiction of an imaginary bird tackling the migration).
DoT 31
Hmmm, the godwit seems to have flown back to alaska, in one day.....
