New main looks smaller still, maybe it’s the offshore version

Not long now, 16 days to go.

Nearly all the boats have arrived in Auckland

Poulpito mid Tasman

Arbitare approaching East Cape

Relapse sitting on the hard in Whangārei without a rig

Simply Irresistible sitting in Westhaven without a rudder

Its all about to get real for 33 yachts and 66 sailors

Don't like the sound of that, will he get in before the sh*t hits?

Doesn’t look like it. Think they will sail around it or clear in to top of South Island then come up possibly

Arbitare mid BOP and Distraction arrived in Westhaven at 5.30 this morning

Napier is out of action. So latest plan is for a 3 leg race.

Mangonui, Picton, then round East Cape to Auckland.

But if too much debris or lack of rescue services, then after Picton back up west coast round North Cape to Auckland.

My heart goes out to the Playbuoy team! It's incredibly disheartening for them to face such a major setback after investing months of planning and effort towards reaching the starting line. To have the rug pulled out from under them must be a crushing blow to their aspirations.

Oh no!! What happened? Someone hit them in marina or something gave up? If the later probably better to happen now than in  a blow 250nm off the west coast.

Very sad to see either way.

Pre-start incident.  And Start Me Up is looking for a welder when they get to Mangonui.

Meanwhile the boats are in now in Bream Bay, and those who have gone into the beach are running out of wind, while those who stayed out have good breeze. E.g. Urban Cowboy now doing 2.6 knots, and Shimmer doing 6.3 knots.
