On sort of a related tangent.... why am I starting to see trademe adverts for mooring rentals saying you need full insurance! To rent a mooring!! For f**ksake... one of the main attractios to getting out of the marina for me would be that I don't have to eff about and pay insurance for my 70s classic plastic that isn't worth insuracing other than to satisfy marina red tape.  These moorings were in the Mahurangi area btw

If memory serves me correctly Ngataringa A4 suffered extensive damage whilst on a mooring as the result of a collision are you capable of paying for the cost of such repairs if your 70s classic unfortunately slips it’s mooring and damages another craft maybe some insurance would be prudent.

Not that hard really

We sailed from the Med to NZ and only used 4 marinas and two of them were optional and only one was necessary (anti foul and canal measure)

plus back up through Asia to the Suez wouldn’t be hard either

As long as you don’t call getting fuel going to a marina, yet can always jerrycan from service station
