So far all the excitement is non-racing related.

Sir Ben getting mugged, ETNZ dropping the boat, and then the most exciting on water aspect, lightening on the course...

While we are waiting for the next round, I was watching one of the old AC races and this is an example of what I think "we" ordinary sailors find exciting yachting and can relate to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypbyJHtmnx4

Yacht racing is a bit like watching test cricket, its not very engaging unless you know the game. The foiling version is like T-20  and gets delivered in small helpings that don't test the attention span too much. F1  has something similar going on, it's not that exciting unless you know the rules, the teams, the personalities, the grudges, the history,  the technical side etc, and the more you get into it the more interesting it becomes. The short version is that the AC is the same

I can relate, but holy sh*t thats dull. More exciting racing on a wednesday night race

But isn't that life?  Lots of sporting contests that are built up to high expectations turn out duds.  But, that makes the humdingers even better, especially when they are unexpected, when there is a great comeback etc.  I am getting a bit philosophical now, but I find this a real concern in modern life is that unless every event, sporting or otherwise is some surreal exciting experience, then it is labelled a dud.  And that is what I was getting at in my earlier T20 v Test Cricket analogy.  T20 tries so so so hard to be an awesome super duper crackerjack experience - but now that the novelty has well worn off, once sees through the cracks that the game itself is the dud because it has tried so hard to cut out all what people accussed of being the 'boring bits' (ie the period between the 15th - 40th over in a traditional 50 over one day game) - but its the boring bits that make the exciting bits even more exciting when they do happen - but, as in real life - not every day can be a life changing experience , most of us are on rinse and repeat in our daily lives, and often sport is no different,

But, now I am off to see my shrink....😄

Where are all the spectator boats?  A few dozen at most, not like the hundreds we had in Auckland.

I notice that the race committee are adjusting the course length and axis nearly every leg using the autonomous buoys. I think if it comes back to Auckland, they would have difficulty changing the axis due to the number of spectator boats.

The courses in Auckland were criticized for having too narrow boundaries, giving the trailing boat no opportunity to get separation for a possible gain. Looks like they haven't learnt from that, and kept the narrow course, despite having a large sea area and few spectator craft.

Amazingly bad decision from LR to go for the penalty at the bottom mark and fall off the foil. Even if they'd got the penalty (which they didn't) falling off the foil would have been death.

Too bad, spoiled what was a pretty decent race up to that point. Ineos-Alinghi continues to be incredibly dull despite the nominal improvement in the scoreline.

I'd guess that they have a broader boundary for spectator boats, inside of which they can shift the course axis.

Interesting bit of spin the Squadron took part in for Emirates Team Dalton over the last month -taking an Americas cup around the country on a road trip to try and convince the locals that this was a national sporting side not just a private company set up for pecuniary reasons primarily. Still friends on the trip had a whale of a time ....

Yeah but one of the frackers wins was a dns and in the races completed prada has generally pulled out a greater distance than the poms

ps i dont think any regatta yacht race doesnt have a time limit

I'm enjoying watching this round with close boats. It is pretty much about winning the start though, not much in the way of passing lanes.

Hmm last night was unexpected to me. I thought Prada would do it - they had given 2 races to Ben due to failures. However, last night, Ben was faster...lightly  the brits will win now I think. Great racing, and close!
