Frank 193
Seems ya cant win with the AC no matter where it goes , I can recall earlier campaigns suffering criticism that on the water it was as exciting as paint drying and off the water it was a litigious slugfest between teams of lawyers funded by billionaire egomaniacs with a small penis complex. Yeah crash n bash in sail GP is exciting but overall not a good look for the league they are fragile boats and overnight repairs for structural failure on is not feasible perhaps they need a spare hull or two and same for the rigs. Commercialisation of sport provides funding but it does have a sameness about it. Off topic but the much vaunted F! races are actually boring AF , I only watch them at the moment because of Lawson. K4309 440
Lesson in Port / Starboard today and keeping a proper lookout in Sail GP Is that traditional enough for you guys? Video: Must See Crash! USA hits EmiratesGBR at full speed ??
ex Elly 268
The control of the event has just been handed to a committee of challengers. Was it really a good idea for the commodore of the Squadron to sign away the defender's advantage?
waikiore 509
But they have not , as I said the Devil is in the details
Black Panther 1,810
My suggestion for the next AC which I am sure will be ignored.: A single fleet race in J boats. All crew to have a current passport for the country of the yc they represent. One boat per challenger. Now to think of a fun course, around Waiheke?
Frank 193
Everything about the J boats is very stately including the crashes
Black Panther 1,810
Prettiest crash ever.
Psyche 882
Awful, and if anyone has seen one of these out of the water you will understand the power of these yachts. Definitely an owners worst nightmare. It looks like a straightforward Pt/Stb, the only comment is Stb should have turned down rather than up to lessen the impact.
khayyam 108
How could this happen? Boat on port just seems oblivious, or unable to bear away?
Frank 193
More confronting than a Sail GP crash in some ways , those long overhangs dissipate the forces better than a plumb bowed hull probably saved the rig and lives.
waikiore 509
Back to AC38 -has the secret AC partnership been signed? Has Sir Ben got access to his boat from the last event? Are there any entries ? And when is the entry deadline as they have breezed past the first deadline.... Poor Naples -have they been sold a pup.

Meanwhile, SailGP has expanded to 13 teams with Artemis Racing throwing their hat in the ring. And another event this weekend to watch, this time in Cadiz, Spain. Geneva was a bit of a let down not having any wind but it was run exactly 1 week after Saint Tropez. I far prefer to wait 1 week between events than the 5 years or what ever it is with the AC. You just get all interested and fired up to watch it, it's done and dusted and crickets for years. The AC is enough to make you want to take up cricket of all sports.
waikiore 509
Entries to be in by the end of October, one French team maybe two Italians , no one has picked up a spade yet in Naples -ready for the boats in May 26 I dont think so. Apparently Ben and Grant have kissed and made up -but Ben doesnt have a boat?
ex Elly 268
Something is amiss as American Magic withdraw from America’s Cup with mysterious exit https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/360870235/something-amiss-american-magic-withdraw-americas-cup-mysterious-exit Is it because they can't build a new hull?
