slanty 11
Does anyone at gulf harbour have a cable crimping tool they'd be willing to lend me for a day? Catch is that I'm in Welly and won't be at gulf harbour till around boxing day to a few days after NY or so. Any leads gratefully accepted.

slanty 11
Sorry - Should have said. Am running cables for a windlass. 35mm sq cable.
aardvarkash10 1,105
aaaah. I used a crimper for stainless wire crimping when I did mine, but I am an ex-auto sparkie and I can own my own failures! I would suggest running your cable to get the measurements right, then taking the whole lot to a friendly auto or marine sparkie to crimp the terminals.
slanty 11
Cool - am doubting many will be open when I'm up there so if anyone has a unit to borrow I think that would be preferable.

Buying one might be an option. I bought one of these recently, very cheap and a nice tool to have in the tool box. https://www.trademe.co.nz/3906863326 Unfortunately I have no idea where it is as I am between storage containers so can't loan it to you. slanty 11
Ok - I've dropped the hammer on one of those, Will report back on how good they are
Jason128 6
Been there- they were not any good- the tooling are not standard crimp sizes. Definately not as good a result as the pros get. Get extra lugs and try a few before putting into action.
