dkd 3
Afternoon, After sailing for several seasons now and getting crucified with our rating. Recently I have found that they have had us rated and measured as a "sportsboat" and not keelboat for AMS (Aust. Measurement System), so am suitably un-impressed. Am chasing a few details please so I can get this boat re-measured correctly before this season starts. Can someone please tell me the year that the SR26s were designed. Needed as part of this measurement system I think I can work my way thro' the rest, but if not, I will ask. Thanks, David
Sudden5869 17
Perhaps first check for other SR 26s here... http://phrf.yachtingnz.org.nz/# If you need some sample names, search SR26 and SR 26 on the https://www.yachtingnz.org.nz/boat-search Cheers
funlovincriminal 191
My old one (Gaucho) was I believe built 86/7? I seem to have 85 locked in my head as design date but could be wrong. Gary from Leading Edge boat builders in Beachaven is restoring Aqua Vitae and seems to know pretty much everything about kiwi yachts. Look him up or head to the SR26 page on Facepalm. Great boats - good luck!
neilm 1
40 years! Blimey . You might ask to be reclassified from sports boat to vintage https://www.docdroid.net/2DFIdw7/sr26-sea-spray-pdf#page=3
Ex Machina 384
I know an older chap who had the first one , think it’s now rocky ? I will ask him when it was built/designed
khayyam 93
80s for sure but exact year? Dunno. See if you can get hold of a copy of this: https://www.abebooks.com/9781869560461/Classic-New-Zealand-Yachts-Four-1869560469/plp At a guess I'd say the SR26 is in there but can't remember for sure. Auckland library has it.
LE Bb 27
Gary Lambert says he designed them in 1982, and started building the first one ( now Rocky ). the hull moulds were taken off this first hull befre it was turned over I have a copy of the original boat test which was october 1983. original specs 7.9 loa 2.87 boa 1180 displ. Note production boats are 7.915 and hull beam without gunnal flange is 2.765. Average dry weight is 1400kg without crew. original keel was like a young 88 or j24. Mk2 keel was a parallel fin steel fin with fairings and "L" bulb between 380 and 310kg draft drawn for that was 1.85 but most went close to 2.2. We have a new carbon fin with a 460kg "T" bulb.

dkd 3
Thank you all very much. Now can start to get her re-measured ... accurately this time. The current boats I noticed are running Code 0's ..... can someone please tell me what the average size for them is please. Other than that, little boat is a truckload of fun, nice now we are sailing more and slowly dragging ourselves to the front bit of the fleet. LE Bb, any chance of a scan of the original test please. Thanks

I think my one is a bit over 32sqm although we do have a taller rig. What's your one called?
