eruptn 105
Looks it has behaved 50% as expected in the design: Maiwar features 9 separate watertight compartments. Her wooden construction, as well as added foam flotation, make her unsinkable. Due to her cabin shape, she is unstable upside down and therefore able to be righted from inside and outside the cabin.
Terry B 73
Just read a full description of what happened to Tom Robinson (the rower) on Off Centre Harbor website. Boat performed exactly as it should - but Tom forgot (for the first time) to shut the hatch when he went down below for something. And a larger than usual wave filled the boat. We've all done potentially daft things like this and it could have ended in disaster. Boat was designed to right itself - but not full of water. He's a remarkable young man. Lots of info on his website and Off Centre Harbor.
waikiore 478
Where as the Trans Atlantic kit boats built here did seem to sit upright even when awash -giving you a chance to bail out and continue.
