Guest 136
Any body had any luck with 3M 5200? I have some over and don't want to waste it. Will still clean old glue off with MEK/acetone and sand. My 999 has gone off and don't need half a litre.
Psyche 807
its probably worth trying, its tenacious to say the least. The TDS does not say it wont work on PVC but it does say to test on plastics. The main thing would be not moving the joint while it goes off, that and use plenty of masking tape as it truly is the devils creation
Guest 136
Yip, good idea, I’ll try one handle and see if it works. Devil of a job getting old glue off so don’t want to waste effort to do over. Can’t see getting 5200 off being easy. Last time I added the cross linker demodur but I believe you can just use 999 neat. Demodur is like liquid gold at $80 for a little vile that’s basically useless after you break seal on first use.
Psyche 807
The secret with desmodur is to clean the container threads with acetone and store it in the freezer. Still goes off though eventually
