Pelagic Mountie 4
Hi all Can anyone identify these layers of blue/pink/grey paint on my boat? I'm thinking it is hard old antifoul - maybe war paint? It is extraordinarily hard and difficult to remove. It laughs at 40grit on a good orbital. I think the yellow is an epoxy seal coat applied over the gelcoat and the time of build. Late 80's fiberglass kiwi cruiser/racer. Cheers Bevan
ex Elly 267
Is it Coppercoat?
ballystick 79
If it goes brown or coppery when sanded, it is probably coppercoat or equivalent inter mixed with antifoul of various types
waikiore 499
Some looks like one of the old Altex (tauranga) epoxy undercoats, dont think it is Coppercoat. Prob to cover earlier osmosis jobs.

Pelagic Mountie 4
Thanks all. Who knows what it was, epoxy undercoats was the best guess I think. It's all sanded off now anyway!
