Wild winds in Auckland - Tree just fell on our house

Recommended Posts

Its blowing out there.  Bound to be reports of boats ashore after broken loose on moorings tomorrow.
This massive Pine just uprooted and smashed our carport and landed at the front of the house - amazingly it seems the carport saved the car from being mashed, and probably helped save our front porch.
Be careful out there crewdotorgers.

A friend arrived in Auckland on the second to last plane before airport closed due to strong winds. They sat on plane for two hours unable to leave due to the wind strength.

i have seen this in Wellington a couple of times in the eight years I lived there but never heard of it in Auckland. Must have been a real good blow...

I could hear the roar of the particular gust as it hit our house- nothing like I have heard before. The whole house shook, and then the crash as the tree did it's thing.  Next thing to do at sun up is phone my mate in Mangawhai to see if my boat shed up there is still standing.
