raz88 98
So the old faithful tmc toilet stopped pumping water in. Closer inspection revealed the screws and housing to access impeller were corroded to the point of being unopenable, the macerator blades were bent, the switch was failing and the seat mounts were in poor shape, so I decided to replace with a whole new unit. Handily tmc have changed the footprint and mounting points (guess my old one was really old?) so after a fair bit of admin the new one is installed and looking shiny. However... It pumps water in faster than it pumps water out. It is still pumping out, and if i turn off the inlet seacock it empties quite happily. I have removed the joker valve in the outlet, which makes it function perfectly. But im not enthusiastic about leaving it out. I think (hard to tell exactly) the bowl is above the waterline when boat is at rest. But it seems like the kind of thing that should be there. Also seems like the flow rates of inlet and outlet should work with it there. Any ideas? Should I be looking at restricting the inlet?
K4309 439
Calcification in your discharge pipes restricting flow. Due to the age of everything you have described, you're probably lucky if you have a straw size annulus in the discharge pipe. Next step is probably a completely blocked head. Super-max pain in the arse job, but I'd probably just replace all of the discharge pipe. Esp ahead of the summer cruising season to avoid urgent heads maintenance on the 31st Dec...
